Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or not sure why the same patterns keep showing up? You do not need the right words or a tidy explanation. I offer online therapy in a warm, non judgemental space, at your own pace.

I am a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor offering online therapy sessions to adults across the UK. My practice is built on the belief that everyone deserves a space where you can feel safe and supported, without judgement.
As an integrative therapist I draw on a range of therapeutic perspectives, including person centred work, psychodynamic approaches and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I tailor my work to meet your individual needs, whether you are navigating anxiety, low mood, workplace burnout, low self esteem and self doubt, difficult relationships, or simply seeking personal growth.
Online therapy offers the flexibility to access support from wherever you feel most comfortable, your home, your office, or any private space. I want my practice to be available to everybody who needs it, and for that reason I protect time in my diary each month for sessions at a reduced rate.
I look forward to speaking with you.
You do not need to know any of these names to start. This is simply how I work, and I tailor it to what helps you.
Person centred work. A warm, empathic approach that puts you at the centre. I provide unconditional acceptance, and an empathetic, holistic, therapeutic approach. This is a safe space where you can explore your feelings without judgement.
Psychodynamic work. Exploring how past experiences shape present patterns, so we can understand together what may be sitting underneath how you feel now.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Practical ways to notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns, with things you can use in everyday life to manage anxiety and low mood.
Starting therapy can feel daunting. Here is what to expect, so nothing is a surprise.
Send me a message, and we will have a short 15 minute video call. No cost, no obligation. We can talk about whatever brings you here, you can ask me anything, and we can both see whether it feels like a good fit.
Choose a regular time that works for you. Sessions are 50 minutes and held via secure video call. You can attend from anywhere with a private, quiet space.
In our sessions we work at your pace, exploring whatever feels most important to you. There is no pressure. This is your space.
Therapy takes time, it is not a quick fix. We will review how it is going and change our approach if we need to. You are in control of how long we work together.
I keep a small number of reduced rate places open each month, because I do not want cost to be the reason someone goes without. If the fee is difficult, please say so when you get in touch. It will not change how I work with you.
"Grainne is kind, thoughtful and encouraging. I feel so comfortable with her and can share what is really bothering me so that between us we are able to find me do-able coping strategies and habits. It's the first time I have been able to do that and it is already making such a positive difference to my life. I feel 2026 is the first year in a very long time that I have hope for a happier mind and life in general. I highly recommend Grainne (thank you for everything)."
Research consistently shows that online therapy is just as effective as face-to-face sessions for most people and most issues. Many clients actually find they open up more easily from the comfort of their own space.
Just a device with a camera and microphone, a laptop, tablet or smartphone, and a stable internet connection. I use a secure, encrypted video platform, and you do not need any special software.
This varies depending on your situation and what you want from it. Some people find short term work helpful, around 6 to 12 sessions, while others prefer to work for longer. We will talk about it together and review it as we go.
Life happens. I ask for 48 hours notice where possible. Cancellations with less notice may be charged at the full session rate, except in emergencies.
Yes, and many people do. NHS talking therapies are a good service, but waits can be long and what is offered is often a fixed number of CBT sessions. Private therapy can run alongside an NHS referral, or instead of it, and we are not limited to one approach or a set number of sessions. If you are unsure which is right for you, we can talk it through on the first call.
Absolutely. Everything discussed in our sessions is strictly confidential. The only exceptions are if there's a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, which I would always discuss with you first where possible.
You do not have to know what to say. A first line is enough.
I aim to reply within 24 to 48 hours. Your enquiry is confidential.
You can also email me directly at hello@grainneivestherapy.org.
This is not an emergency service. If you need urgent help, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, or in an emergency call 999. Samaritans are available free, day or night, on 116 123.
Your privacy matters, and the law takes what you tell me here seriously. This explains, plainly, what happens to the information you send me.
Only what you put in the form: your name, your email address, and anything you choose to tell me about what brings you here. The last of these counts as health information under UK data protection law, which is why I ask for your consent before you send it, and why you are welcome to leave those fields blank.
To reply to you, and to arrange a first conversation if you would like one. If we do not go on to work together, I delete your enquiry within six months. If we do, your details are held under my clinical record keeping and confidentiality policy, which I will go through with you before we start.
Only me. Enquiries reach me through my website host and my email provider, who process the message on my behalf and do not use it for anything else. I do not sell your information, and I do not add you to any mailing list.
What you share in sessions is confidential. The exceptions are where there is a risk of serious harm to you or to someone else, or where I am required to disclose by law. I would always talk to you about this first where it is possible to do so. I discuss my work in regular clinical supervision, which is standard practice, and clients are not identified.
You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Please just email me. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
